Over the years, a small number of individuals have had a huge and irreplaceable impact on the recording of Collingwood’s rich heritage. One such individual was Jack McMurchy, variously managing editor, general manager and publisher of the Enterprise-Bulletin from the 1940s through to the 70s.

Collingwood _DowntownDuring that time, McMurchy managed to compose more than 330 published articles on all aspects of Collingwood’s community and business development — a treasure trove of well-researched, colorfully written and insightful chronicles — recently cataloged and now available at the Collingwood Public Library.

McMurchy’s considerable work will be the focus of the January 12 general meeting of the Collingwood and District Historical Society  – a visual summary of Collingwood’s history as seen through the eyes of a prolific historian and editor, presented by CDHS director Peter Case.
